Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014 and released her own single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to create Rihanna references. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna had been hired to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. Also, she was featured on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video was then released in September. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16, and then released the song as a single by herself for her first album. The music video premiered 20 February 2019 in order in conjunction with the song. Within a time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
